Academic Ethos
The Angels' English Higher Secondary School's academic ethos focuses on encouraging the students to utilise their talents, and develop their intellectual and creative interests so that they remain interesting and interested person for the rest of their professional and personal lives. The students need to understand their own culture and history, as well as their own geographical, scientific and spiritual theory and language. The school's academic environment is constructed such that the students are able to develop their knowledge and interest in these areas.
Students at The Angels' English Higher Secondary School are expected to be independent thinkers, develop first class critical reading, writing and analysis skills, learn to understand the value of research across all areas of the curriculum and be self-motivated and self-driven through a genuine love of the subject and not only by intrinsic rewards. Students should be aware of other students weaknesses and strengths and be able to develop an understanding for them. Service and an understanding of each other's cultural backgrounds and religions is a crucial aspect of academic and wider life at School.
Course Of Studies
The medium of instruction is English besides english, the national language Hindi is also taught from KG class. The regional anguage Assamese is also tauht from class 1 onwards.
The school prepares the students for the HSLC examination conducted by SEBA, Assam in the following subjects.
English, Assamese, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Advance Mathematics, Environmental Science, Elective Computer, Music, Dance, Fine Arts, Martial Arts and Work Experience.
Assessment And Promotion
The report card of students records the progress, performance, studies as well as evaluation of their conduct, application, attention, discipline throughout the year.
20% marks from class test and 30% marks from Half Yearly Examination and 50% marks will be taken into consideration for their promotion.
Student who is absent for any test, no provision can be made for supplimentary tests.
Failure to appear for any class test or examination can seriously affect a student's promotion.
For a student who failed in the promotion examination the will be no arrangement for re-examination.
The results as given in the "Progress Report" card is final and cannot be changed.
Parents/Guardians must sign the report card when and where required and should occationally interview the Headmistress to discuss the proress of their wards.
A student who is "not promoted" may be asked to leave the school. In no cas however will he/she be allowed to repeat the same class for a third time. A student who fails twice in three consecutive years will not be allowed to continue his/her studies in the school.
In all questions of failure, the headmistres decission is final.
